Starbucks coming to Swiss trains

If you have thought the one thing missing from Swiss railways was a Starbucks coffee shop, you are in luck.

A pilot project will bring two double-decker Starbucks cars to an Inter-City rail line between St Gallen and Geneva, beginning in 2013.

The shops will be staffed by the Federal Railways restaurant workers and, if successful, there might be more rolling Starbucks through the Swiss countryside.

It isn’t the first time the Swiss Federal Railways tried putting a chain restaurant on the rails.

In the 1990s there were two McDonald’s rail cars, but that project went bust.
