Ski race cut short by avalanche danger

The Patrouille des Glaciers ski race between Zermatt and Verbier was cancelled for the second time this weekend.

A first heat was cancelled last week too due to wing and fog.

On Saturday, it was called off again, this time because of an increasingly unstable snowpack.

Fanny Viret was among the top women contestants.

She and her team found out the race was cancelled just outside Arolla, five hours into the race.

Teams were shuttled to Verbier from Arolla by bus.
