Protesters snarl Swiss-French traffic

Separatist protestors at the French-Swiss border caused major disruptions to traffic this morning for the second day in a row.

Around 30 people gathered on the French side of the Bardonnex customs with tents and barbeques.

They called for the independence of the Savoie region, claiming that an 1815 treaty says the area is not part of France.

Protestors said they want the canton of Geneva to recognise them as a separate state.

It is up to the French government to handle their request.

A customs spokesman says the traffic delays may last all day.
