Pandemrix approved as vaccine for babies

The Federal Office of Public Health has given the green light for Pandemrix to be used to vaccinate children from six months old against the H1N1 virus.

Health authorities did not wait for the go-ahead from Swissmedic, which had already authorized the vaccine from GlaxoSmithKline for people aged 18 and older.

The European Union already allows the vaccine for 6-month old babies.
