No more appeals against Zurich sex boxes

The way is now clear for so-called sex boxes to be built in Zurich.

The drive-in garage-like structures are designed to keep prostitution under control and give more security to sex workers.

Voters approved the idea in March, but a number of complaints were lodged against it. People who live and work close to the proposed site weren’t happy with the sex trade moving to their neighbourhood.

These appeals are now off the table, meaning the construction permit is final.

A timetable will be outlined in September and work should be finished by the spring.
