MPs to debate eurozone crisis this session

The National Council will tackle the eurozone crisis in debates during the last week of the parliamentary session.

The Swiss People’s Party and Social Democrats each wanted to debate issues which have been declared urgent enough to be dealt with this session.

The Swiss People’s Party wants to know what the Federal Council is planning for, as situations in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy remain precarious.

Social Democrats want to know what the Federal Council thinks of the Swiss National Bank-imposed minimum exchange rate to the euro of 1 franc 20.

They also want to know if measures like negative interest rates and capital controls are being prepared.
