Staff at shuttered biotech giant Merck Serono in Geneva are threatening another half day’s strike on July 31.

This after management’s refusal to accept a proposal put forward by trade unions to improve redundancy packages.

The company announced in May that it will close its Geneva headquarters, relocating or axing more than 1,000 jobs.

The firm says it would “prefer to focus on looking for solutions which will allow employees to find new jobs.”
