An Italian court has delivered a blow to Nestlé in its fight against competitor coffee capsules in Nespresso machines.
Italian coffee company Caffé Vergnano said yesterday a court in Turin ruled the company’s “Espresso1882” capsules did not violate any Nespresso patents, despite being compatible with Nespresso machines.
This means the capsules can still be sold in Italy.
The court did say Caffé Vergnano needs to change its label from saying “compatible with Nespresso machines” to one more specifically saying which machines made by Nespresso are compatible with the capsules.
