Geneva populist MP faces slander suit

The populist candidate for Geneva’s government Eric Stauffer is facing a lawsuit for slander.

A now-infamous campaign video with the president of the Geneva Citizen’s movement, featured Stauffer accosting alleged drug dealers in the city’s Paquis neighborhood. One of those men Stauffer films calls a ’dealer’ turns out to be a former pro-footballer playing for Servette and the Young Boys.

He says he received a number of calls from worried parents of children in a youth league he coaches.

Stauffer says the party’s apologized to the man.
