A new study has ranked no fewer than four Swiss cities among the world’s top 10 most expensive places for expats in the world.
According to British consultancy firm ECA International, Geneva is number three, Zurich is fifth, Bern is seventh and Basel is ninth, partly due to the consistently strong franc.
It could be worse though. The Japanese capital Tokyo came in at number one for the second year in a row, due to the yen’s recent boom.
The study looked at 400 cities around the world most populated by expats.
It bases findings on a cost of living survey including food, clothing and entertainment but not accommodation.
