The weather was in stark contrast with former weeks this past weekend.
Temperatures reached 30 degrees north of the Alps for the first time in the month of April.
It was 25 degrees at night in parts of the canton of St Gallen.
This was largely due to a warm wind called the Foehn, which was also fairly destructive.
Trees were torn down in many places and two of them ended up snapping power lines and sparking fires in the canton of Valais.
Fire fighters quickly got them under control.
