Few protestors at Xstrata annual meet

Though not part of the May 1 protests, a small group of demonstrators gathered outside the annual meeting of Anglo-Swiss mining giant Xstrata, in Zug.

There were about 30 activists from the Society for Threatened Persons and the Swiss-Columbia Working Group.

They were protesting alleged environmental damage and human rights abuses from Xstrata’s activities in Peru and Columbia.

Last November a Peruvian mayor filed a criminal complaint against the company for environmental damage and endangering public health.
