Federal IT scandal claims another

Another official in the Federal Tax Administration has been dismissed in the wake of an ever widening scandal involving a federal IT project.

The head of the Administrations IT Procurement office was dismissed for suspicion of violating procurement laws connected to the project dubbed INSIEME.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has also opened a criminal investigation.

This comes after president Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf dismissed the Tax Administration’s director, Urs Ursprung, who was ultimately responsible for what happened in the office, a statement said.

No criminal case is open against Ursprung.

The case centers around contracts which were not properly open to bids, or intentionally manipulated to avoid certain signature requirements.
