Federal statistics show every fifth person in Switzerland says they have no religion, nearly double the amount from 10 years previous.
The data is from 2010 and shows 1.3 million people declared no religion.
Catholics are the majority at near 39 percent, with 2.5 million people, followed by 2 million Protestants at near 31 percent the population.
Each of these major religions lost more than three percent of their numbers in the last decade.
The number of declared Muslims increased about one percent to 4.5 percent, and the Jewish community remained stable at 0.2 percent.
