A district court fined a 19-year-old woman from the canton of St Gallen 210 francs yesterday for insulting a man on Facebook, the social networking website.

She was ordered to pay court fees of 1,250 francs after being convicted for calling the man various names in a discussion forum.

The woman pleaded not guilty, saying she did not think her language was offensive.
