Convicted hemp farmer returns to prison

Convicted hemp farmer Bernard Rappaz is back in prison, after doctors said his health was up to the task.

Rappaz has reportedly put 14 kilos back on since he ended his 120-day hunger strike on Christmas Eve.

Rappaz has been transferred from the University Hospital in Geneva to Crêtelongue prison in canton Valais.

The hemp farmer resumed eating on Christmas Eve after the European Court of Human Rights refused requests to intervene in his case.

Rappaz says his 68-month sentence for growing pot and other offences is too severe, but cantonal and federal authorities have refused to commute his sentence.

Doctors had been ordered to force feed him if necessary.

Sixty-eight months in prison for growing plants. Ridiculous!
