Competing referendums against tax deals

The Young Socialist Party’s leadership has agreed to launch a referendum against tax deals with Germany, the UK and Austria.

This is not the first referendum announced, with the Swiss People’s Party allied Tax Payers Federation and Action for an Independent and Neutral Switzerland also opposing the deals.

The Young Socialists, like their parent political party, see automatic data exchange as a necessary step to take pressure off Switzerland, whereas the current tax deals aim to prevent that exchange.

With the deals planned to go into effect in 2013 a referendum from either the extreme political left or right would likely come in November.
