Coldest May night for 30 years

It was an icy night for Switzerland, with temperatures below freezing in many places.

In some spots it was the coldest night recorded for the month of May in over 30 years.

In Davos the mecury dropped below the minus 6 mark.

Glarus was sprinkled with snow above 600 meters.

A blast of arctic air is seemingly the cause of the cooler than normal temperatures.

MeteoSwiss says the weekend may be warmer but by Monday the cold snap will be back.
