Scientists at CERN on the Swiss-French border may not call it the elusive Higgs Boson just yet, but they are now more confident they have found something exciting.
The UK’s Telegraph newspaper reports one CERN team has upped its confidence level that it has found a new particle to 5.9 sigma.
Particle physics accepts anything over 5 sigma confidence as a true discovery.
Last month scientists had a 5 sigma confidence level, meaning they were 99.9 percent sure of the findings.
More tests will be done to try to figure out if it is the fabled Higgs Boson, believed to give matter mass.
