The brown bear M13 is alive.

There was doubt since he was hit by a train end of April and lost his GPS collar.

But his DNA was trail was recently picked up in northern Italy.

Originally from there, M13 wandered into the canton of Graubunden earlier this year.

He started becoming a bit too comfortable with people and had to be repelled from villages with rubber bullets.

After his brush with the train he has probably become a bit more cautious now, says the nature group WWF.
