BASE jumper dies in Lauterbrunnen fall


A BASE jumper died Saturday afternoon near Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern.

Cantonal police Sunday said the 37-year-old jumper’s parachute malfunctioned for an unknown reason.

The victim, who resided in Zurich, was reportedly jumping at the Mürrenfluh near Lauterbrunnen, south of Interlaken.

Police described the man as an “experienced BASE jumper.”
