The assisted suicide group, Dignitas, is to be allowed to occupy premises in Pfaffikon, in Zurich, after being turned away from several locations due to pressure from local residents.

Dignitas’s new premises will be in the commune of Witzberg. In the summer of 2007, the group lost the lease on the flat in a Zurich suburb it had used for eight years. Since then it had been unable to find a permanent home. Officials in Witzberg say they’re not happy with the news, but they can’t legally oppose the move, because Dignitas doesn’t require special permission. Local authorities say they plan to keep a close eye on the association’s activities
