Amnesty criticizes Swiss asylum practice

Switzerland did not escape mention in Amnesty International’s yearly report on the global state of human rights, with the Swiss earning criticism for treatment of asylum seekers.

Amnesty International cited a forced deportation of 19 Nigerian men last year, during which one was “brutally beaten” without a subsequent independent investigation.

The organization claims there is insufficient social support for asylum seekers, as well, who risk destitution.

It also claimed there were not sufficient efforts against racism or discrimination in the country, criticizing the ban on minarets and other initiatives.
