Swiss artists against an 'intolerant' nation
Two months have passed and many people are still trying to figure out what happened with the anti-minaret initiative vote. While the media continue to analyze what this means for Switzerland, a group of artists have banded together to express their thoughts on the matter and counter some of the “xenophobic” images out there. The Swiss Creators Initiative was formed last November in response to the yes vote. WRS video journalist Amy Wong went to the opening of their exhibit called “Intolerable Intolerance.”

Intolerant Switzerland? don’t you mean Intolerant Middle East? This is the difference. In a democaratic country like Switzerland, we are free to view our differences and organise such events. Can you imagine a similar event taking place in a Middle Eastern country, where they would include and show the Danish artists work of Mohammed?
@ted you are mixing caricatures with art. No connection at all. Caricatures are for the newspapers, and art is for the galleries. And about your question, somobody else (Institut Ramboell/Analyse) already ask Danish people about editing the caricatures of Kurt Westergaard, and 82.4% of them are AGAINST the editing of the same. Middle East is a big term, it is obvious that you weren’t there, and anyway, there is plenty places that are intolerant such as France, Saudy Arabia, Slovenia, as well as plenty of the countries of the Middle East, but that is not giving open call to Swiss society to act towards its ignorance and deficiency of education about different cultures. And while the result of the referendum is like this, in Geneva, they want to buy more church bells, so city cathedral could catch 3 octet. About democratic system in Switzerland, just ask your compatriots with different origin why they are paying more insurance car taxes or why they can get jobs only because its surname, etc, etc… cheers, ted I
