Zurich opens forum on death and burial
Morbid though it might be, all of us have to face up to our own mortality at some point. But there are practical questions too—like what really happens at a funeral parlour? How long does a cremation take and how does it work? To answer these questions, the city of Zurich has set up an information and cultural centre for issues surrounding death and burial at Sihlfeld Cemetery. The Friedhof Forum or Cemetery Forum is a pioneering effort in Switzerland to make death more visible in everyday life. WRS’s Vincent Landon has been there and his report contains adult themes:
