WWF issues sobering message ahead of Rio
A growing population is using too many resources and putting unbearable pressure on our planet. That’s the view of the WWF, the World Wide Fund for Nature which launches the 2012 edition of its Living Planet report today. The report measures changes in the health of the planet’s ecosystems and the WWF has brought forward its publication to send a strong message to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development taking place in Rio next month. As Jim Leape, Director General WWF International tells WRS’s reporter Vincent Landon, the news is grim whatever statistic you choose:
