Why Del Ponte should be part of UN's enquiry on Syria
The Swiss government has put forward former ambassador Carla Del Ponte to support the work of the United Nations Commission of Enquiry in Syria. Del Ponte has a solid track record in human rights, having served as prosecutor on two UN international criminal law tribunals—for Rwanda and for the former Yugoslavia. So what would she bring to the table? And how will the suggestion be greeted in the international community?
