UN report: 2011 saw highest number of international refugees ever
2011 was a record year for people being forced to leave their countries, with the highest number of international refugees logged since the year 2000. The figure comes in the latest annual global trends report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). WRS’s Pete Forster speaks to Adrian Edwards of the UNCHR and asks him if this figure of 800,000 is an isolated spike or part of a larger trend:
