Under the stars at the Locarno film festival
Later today Locarno will turn off the lights and roll out the red carpet for the opening of the city’s 66th annual film festival. It’s a 10-day cinema frenzy. And unlike at Cannes and Venice, screenings at the Locarno Film Festival are open to the public—including under the stars on the city’s Piazza Grande. That means you too can rub elbows with Charlotte Rampling, Gabriel Garcia Bernal or French legend Alain Delon as well as a number of upcoming talents. Olivier Père is the artistic director of the festival. And reporter Marc Menichini asked him how he felt as the opening ceremony was about to start:
