Turning straw into headgear
For almost 200 years, the village of Wohlen in the canton of Aargau was one of the centers of the European hat-making industry. Thousands of jobs were generated in the straw industry and the village was known as “Little Paris.” Today, only a handful of hat makers ply the trade and the rich industrial past is kept alive in the local museum.
