Tourists come to have a peek at direct democracy
Even though more and more voting in Switzerland can be done by e-balloting on the Internet, there are still spots in the country voting the old fashioned way—by standing in a field and raising a hand. It’s an iconic representation of Swiss direct democracy, and the power of the individual voter. Foreign politicians are increasingly taking notice.
