'The Syrian army is wearing itself out'
Yesterday’s reports of a dramatic suicide attack striking at the heart of the regime in Syria have prompted widespread speculation. It’s suggested that the attack killed senior defense and security officials. What will be the impact on the regime of President Bashar al-Assad? Fighting in Damascus has reached a new intensity, according to reports from the region. Are we witnessing a fundamental change on the ground? And does that mean diplomatic efforts, which have been stalling, will shift gears too? To take a look at these questions, WRS’s Jo Fahy talks to Alexandre Vautravers, the head of international relations at Webster University, and editor in chief of the Swiss Military Review:
