FIFA, IOC call upon governments to join battle against match fixing
Prime Minister Mario Monti is considering suspending all football in Italy for two or three years because of concerns over match-fixing. With the European football championships kicking off later this month and the Olympics shortly after that, International Olympic Committee (IOC) and FIFA officials say they need to focus on the threat of match-fixing. WRS’s Marc Menichini attended at a recent conference on match-fixing in Neuchâtel. He spoke to Marc Cavaliero, head of disciplinary and governance at Zurich-based FIFA, and Denis Oswald from the IOC in Lausanne:
