Swiss unis rank high but slippage is 'warning sign'
Switzerland’s universities are globally recognized but according to a recent assessment of the best in the world—only two feature in the top 50. Five others have fallen in the top 200 rankings conducted yearly by the The Times newspaper in London. The Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne rank 12th and 40th. But competition in the academic world is very fierce. So how is Switzerland really faring in this global race for reputation? WRS’s Dave Goodman talks to Phil Baty, who is in charge of the ranking at Times Higher Education:
