Swiss pilot youngest to attempt round-the-world flight
What was your dream as a teenager? To be an astronaut? A world famous chef? An Olympic athlete? Well, for one Swiss youngster, a boyhood dream is on the way to becoming reality. Twenty-two-year-old Carlo Schmid is on a mission to become the youngest unaccompanied pilot ever to fly around the world in 80 days. He set off from Dübendorf in the canton of Zurich last month, stopping off in exotic destinations including Muscat, Karachi, Hanoi, Manila and Taipei. WRS’s Catherine Allen caught up with Carlo and started by asking him about how this ambitious project began:
