Swiss make finals in race to better toilet
Every time you flush the toilet, at least four liters of water gets washed away—perhaps wasteful in developed countries but completely impractical for 2.6 billion people worldwide who don’t have access to safe sanitation. The race is on to reinvent the toilet, spurred by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which is sponsoring the challenge. Earlier this month, a team from Switzerland was named one of eight finalists.
