Swiss thinker inspires U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann

Michele Bachmann, a member of the controversial Tea Party and Republican party candidate for U.S. president, is making waves as a possible challenger to Barack Obama. But even those who’ve closely followed her rise may be unaware of the role played by a Swiss-based intellectual in shaping her views. Bachmann, 55, cites the late Francis Schaeffer as an inspiration. From his chalet in the canton of Vaud, Schaeffer wrote and lectured on an intellectual brand of Christian evangelism. But some say Bachmann has misinterpreted his message. WRS’s Lucas Chambers went to the chalet where Schaeffer lived, called l’Abri, to find out more about the man and the community he founded there:
