Swiss businesses not happy about price comparison site
A website that compares prices of products in Switzerland with those in neighboring countries is causing quite a stir. The website, called Price Barometer, is backed by several major groups, including the Federal Consumer Affairs Bureau. But does such a website push business away from Swiss companies and toward those across the border? WRS’s Alex Helmick puts that question to Benno Maurer from the Federal Consumer Affairs Bureau:

It is a good thing. Prices are high in swtizerland… sometimes “just because”. It’s price gouging. You see some items reasonably priced and then there is no logic for the next item which is 3 times the price you can get it elsewhere.
Apart from price, the selection is shockingly poor in Switzerland. I don’t think people realise how tightly they are controlled.
Prices are high, but the quality is quite poor in the supermarkets. Restriction on development and government restraint on trade cause a lack of competition. There are many things to like, here in 1950’s world, and a few things to dislike.
