Swedish pop legend didn't expect Roxette to continue

The multi-platinum selling Swedish pop duo Roxette has been making hits since the late ’80s. Now after nearly 10 years apart, the duo is back with a new album and world tour. The 18-month world tour includes two dates in Switzerland: October 30 in Geneva and October 31 in Zurich. WRS’s Alex Helmick talks to one half of the duo, Per Gessle, about reuniting for the new album and tour, as well as the story behind the hit song, It Must Have Been Love:

I’m from the US and came across the link to this interview through the Roxette fan Facebook page. This is the first time we fans have heard Per say for sure they are planning to come to America on this tour, so it’s a pretty historic moment for us. There are many of us here who’ve been waiting for them for many years. Had a little trouble with the sound cutting out, but I got most of the interview. I’m curious whether Alex himself is American? His English sounded just like mine! Anyway, he did a great job. Thanks for sharing this.

Roxette, PLEASE, PLEASE come back to the US! You still have a very big fan base here. I was lucky enough to see Roxette in concert during their USA leg of the “Joyride” world tour at the Patriot Center Arena in Fairfax, Virginia, back in 1992. They sold the place out (14,000 fans) and really rocked the place! The fans went crazy for them and were thunderously loud.

Come back and show us US fans again just how fantastic you are! We’re still buying your import releases too!
