Surge in hiking accidents calls for basic rules refresher
Mountain accidents are up 10 percent from last year, according to the Swiss Alpine Club. In the last decade, they’ve gone from just over 6,000 a year to nearly 10,000. It is thought the trend is proportional to the increased number of hikers heading to the hills. But as more and more people try out hiking, what are the risks and how can they be avoided?
