Solar Impulse nails another piece of aviation history
The Swiss sun-powered plane, Solar Impulse, has nailed another piece of aviation history as the first plane to cross continents without a drop of fossil fuel. At 8.30 p.m. last night pioneer and pilot Betrand Piccard touched down in Payerne in the canton of Vaud, wrapping up a journey to Africa and back over two months. WRS’s Helena Humphrey was on the runway the moment the experimental plane landed and spoke to Piccard and fellow Solar Impulse head Andre Borschberg:
