Refugee council strongly opposed to asylum seeker DNA database
Should officials systematically take DNA samples from asylum seekers? The idea will be on the table when the conference of cantonal justice directors meets later this week. Officials say it would help them fight rising crime, a hike they blame largely on North African asylum seekers. WRS’s Alex Helmick talks to Beat Meiner, General Secretary of the Swiss Refugee Council, who believes this practice is discriminatory and against legal norms:
