Police bust begging racket exploiting Roma
A begging racket was busted earlier this week by French and Swiss police in Annemasse and at the border, near Geneva. A core group of alleged bosses based in France, are accused of forcing dozens of Roma people, some even disabled, to beg and trick people into giving them money. Police say most of it, the alleged bosses were sending back to a kingpin in the Romanian town of Barbulesti, near Bucharest. But are we really dealing with human trafficking or organized crime as some are already claiming? And does it justify a crack down on begging across the board? WRS’s Lucas Chambers went to find out:
