Outcry against racism in football pressures UEFA
Football’s governing body in Europe, UEFA, is under mounting pressure to ban Serbia from international football after some of their fans racially abused England players in an Under-21 match on Tuesday night. Nyon-based UEFA claim to be serious about stopping racism in football and only last year threatened Serbia with suspension because of similar incidents. Many say fines for previous racist behaviour have been too small and tougher action needs to be taken as Andy May reports:
