New York designer blends punk and '60s Swiss style
The strong clean lines of 1960s Swiss graphic design make it one of the country’s most popular exports. It has even become known as the International Style. Now a graphic designer in New York is sharing his love of Swiss style with his passion for ’80s punk rock, merging the two seemingly disparate movements in more than 200 posters redesigned from flyers for bands like The Ramones, The Clash and Television. The project, by American Mike Joyce, is called Swissted, and has been an instant online hit since it launched at the start of the year. Reporter Jennifer Davies has been speaking to him:
