Bachmann's simplified path to a Swiss passport
Controversy abounds over the news that controversial U.S. politician Michele Bachmann of the right wing Tea Party Movement has acquired Swiss nationality. She is now officially a citizen of the canton of Thurgau, where her husband’s parents are from. He had Swiss nationality when they got married. One question that’s been raised is how Bachmann was able to get Swiss nationality through her husband, without having lived in Switzerland. Bachmann’s path to citizenship has been described as a “special case.” WRS’s Tony Ganzer has more:
