Merck staff to strike over severance plan
In April, German pharma giant Merck Serono announced plans to close down its Geneva headquarters—axing 500 jobs and relocating about 750 others. Beyond the shocking announcement, it was the beginning of quite disappointing negotiations for the staff. It quickly became clear there was little hope of maintaining the site. Staff representatives saw their latest demands rejected yesterday by Merck Serono. So they’ve confirmed they’ll go on strike again today.
