Merck closure kindles debate over Geneva 'addiction' to multinationals
Geneva’s cantonal government has set up a crisis unit to handle closure of Merck Serono’s headquarters. Officials say they’ve never faced so many layoffs—more than 1,200—at once. Boy I fail to understand this constant underlying message I keep hearing about “get rid of”… tax advantages to multi nationals, forfait tax incentives to foreigners making Switzerland their primary residence, and of course the 2nd home owners March 11 vote…
Can every person “against” growth, financial stability, business, investments, return on investments…. truly say that they have not touched ONE centime from the very thing they speak against and or vote against…. I bet not. Every centime earned, then spend has a direct filtering effect down through all of society…
So what is this “get rid of” mentality, and how do they propose to make it in the current world we know, where money pays for bills…
I am open to new methods of living in peace harmony and growth, but before we slaughter the core of the existing society, we had better find a savvy way to make a new start first….
