Lawmakers spar over initiative to regulate top salaries
The National Council yesterday voted against limiting how much top company bosses can earn each year. Lawmakers were deciding on a popular initiative from the Young Socialists that argued the highest wage paid in a firm must be no more than 12 times the lowest. It was no surprise 110 of 169 lawmakers recommended voters reject the initiative but the debate still fired up both sides of the political spectrum as WRS’s Tony Ganzer reports from Bern:
