Keeping castles in Swiss hands
When money is tight, you cut costs where you can. And if you’re a canton, that might mean selling castles. The canton of Basel Country announced earlier this year it wanted to offload two castles to save more than 600,000 francs a year in maintenance costs. That prompted a public outcry, and fears foreign buyers might snap up the Bottmingen and Wildenstein castles. WRS’s Tony Ganzer takes a closer look:
